The Atelier Spyros Vassiliou is a new space for art, culture, entertainment,
study and education.
Spyros Vassiliou (1902-1985) is considered to have been one of the most
productive and popular Greek painters of the twentieth century. With the help of
the European Union and the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, his home and studio was
transformed into a museum which aspires to present to the visitor the life and
work of the artist.
The new Museum organises Educational Programs that will give the opportunity to
students to follow the artistic journey of Spyros Vassiliou. Through these
programs, one can discover or retrace contemporary Greek art, both in theory and
in practice. Students will also have the opportunity to experiment with
techniques of drawing, painting, and collage that Vassiliou used.
The Educational Programs and Guided Tours of the Museum begin on October 11,
2004 and are open to students from the 3rd grade Elementary School up through
12th grade in High School. The programs are adapted for each age or class group.
